Our free-range hens contentedly spend their days pecking and scratching about with the occassional relaxing dust bath. Our happy hens kindly provide us with the most fabulous, golden-yolked free-range eggs.
We currently provide several local B&B's with our hens' eggs and we also sell them at our garden gate.
In order to give the ground in their old enclosure a rest, the hens have moved down the hill. Their new area has a very shallow burn running through it. And while only the bravest few ventured in the burn to start, they now spend much time hunting and pecking at small insects and other treats in the water.
And when our son "helps out" with the hens it is usually cause for an instant gathering!
It might have something to do with the unattended feed bucket!
